Thanks to the likes of Kylie Jenner, the matte lip trend has taken over, meaning that everyone is grappling for the next best thing - I myself have matte lip products from 7 different brands (even as a blogger I think that's excessive!). Luckily, Smashbox have come to the rescue with the Insta-Matte Lip Transformer*, which does what it says on the tin! I have so many lovely lip products I don't wear anymore, simply because they have a creamy finish, so for the price of one lipstick, you've practically bought yourself a whole new collection of matte colours!
Smashbox very kindly sent me 2 of their Be Legendary Lipsticks* to try out in 'Punked' and 'Audition'. Made with shea butter, they're really moisturising, and both are from the new extended release which has some amazing colours, definitely got my eye on Witchy and Coffee Run!
So because I had 2 lipsticks, I thought that I'd create two make-up looks on the grunge theme as I'm so into that trend at the moment. The first is a light, wearable look for everyday, and the second packs a punch with heavy eyes and a striking lip.
Before each look, I prepped my lips with the Always Sharp Clear Lip Liner*; this creates a transparent barrier to prevent lip colour feathering or bleeding. For me this is a godsend as it means I don't need to keep buying lip liners to match my lipsticks! It also has a built-in sharpener in the cap, so you'll never be caught out with a blunt tip.
After applying both of the lipsticks, I dabbed on the Insta-Matte Lip Transformer with my fingers to get rid of the sheen and give that flat, matte finish and I was so impressed by the change - I'll insert some comparison photos later, but for now - onto the make-up looks!
DAYTIME GRUNGE
This is the make-up look I wear most days - a warm smoky eye and nude lip, sometimes with a cat flick if I've got the time. Audition is a gorgeous neutral rose colour so it will team perfectly with any eyeshadow colour and work well with different skin tones.

EDGY EVENING GRUNGE
Of course this look was my fave! Grey lipstick is definitely a fast growing trend at the moment, and I love the edgy colour of Punked. I went all out with dark pink smoked out eyeshadow to contrast with the cool toned lips. Where I didn't prep my lips (usually I brush on some excess foundation to my lips for a lighter base) the grey tones mixed with my natural lip colour so it looks slightly more purple which I love!
BEFORE & AFTER
As you can see from the photos, the Insta-Matte Lip Transformer is a good'un! In my opinion, the finish is one that you'd get from your typical matte lipstick - not quite at the scale of velvet lacquers, but I was still really impressed!
Overall I'm in love with my new bits from Smashbox and can't wait to try out the Insta-Matte Lip Transformer on my lipstick collection!
Would you try out any of these products?
