Wednesday Want Week 23: SmilingSilverSmith

I stumbled upon the SmilingSilverSmith shop yesterday and just had to do a feature on it.  You may know that I'm a complete sucker for jewellery, especially rings so to me, this shop has it all.  I've not seen anything like these kind of rings before and considering what they are, they aren't actually too pricey.  They may have a custom from me pretty soon! As always, click on each picture for the listing and click here for the shop!

PS: blogging will be back to regular pretty soon, I'm still recovering from Reading Festival!

Giveaway Winner

So it's been just about a month since my giveaway has been going but the time has come to finally announce a winner!  I got 129 entries altogether, which is a whole lot more than I expected! I used random.org to choose a winner, which turned out to be Beth from Ramz & the Flock!  I have e-mailed the winner, but if I don't have a response within the next week or so I will draw another.  For now, well done Beth!

Also, I know I'm really behind, and I still haven't done a Sunday summary post yet, but they will follow. I was at Reading Festival from Wednesday until yesterday and I'm still recovering! Posts will be back to normal pretty soon (:

Wednesday Want Week 22: SUPER WICKED STUFF

I've always been a sucker for jewellery, but so when I found this etsy shop, SUPER WICKED STUFF, I couldn't resist featuring it.  A lot of online jewellery shops are the same, but this one is so unique, selling awesome stuff, especially rings and earrings.  My favourite item has got to be the bottom picture, the huge cross earrings, never seen anything like it!  As always, click on each picture for the listing and click here for the website.

IRIDESCENT

I know I've done a post about this before but I have made a proper online store now, selling brand new products, with a new store host so I don't use Bigcartel anymore, as the costs are so high!   Anyway, I'd love for you to have a little browse.  The prices are low and the quality is high! Click here to go to the shop.  I'm off to work in a bit, and would love to come back home to see that I have packages to send off! (;

4/ Experimented with red lipstick
5/ Favourite boots broke ):
6/ Saw what I'd look like with pink hair
7/ Had to sell our Rewind Festival tickets because mum is too ill to go ):
8/ Started work in the new workshop!

Things I loved this week:
1/ This great blog, Wondering Wolves full of posts with great style and charity shop finds!
2/ The quiet place.  Just go there it, it's so inspiring
3/ This song by Destroy/Rebuild/Until/God/Shows (D/R/U/G/S)

This week hasn't been too bad, apart from on Friday my mum had to be rushed into hospital for reasons I'm not going to go into so that was scary.  I then found out yesterday that if she had not been taken to hospital she would have died, so that really hit me hard, and made me realise how lucky I am to live in a society with readily available healthcare for free, and how much I depend on my mum.

Next week there will be a delayed Sunday Summary as I'm at Reading Festival from Wednesday evening!  I'm not sure which phone I'm taking yet, but hopefully I'll be able to hook it up to my twitter etc.  I'm also getting my hair dyed completely blonde on tuesday as it's quite ginger at the moment, and I'm going to dip dye it lilac! :D

M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E

Blouse thing - wholesale-dress.net
Mickey vest - Primark
Half stud shorts - IRIDESCENT
Leopard platforms - eBay
Drawstring bag - River Island
Fox Tail - IRIDESCENT
Necklace: Accessorise
Rings: Primark, wholesale-dress.net & Accessorise

This is what I would have worn to a friends house tonight (maybe with some more comfy shoes) but my mum had to be taken into hospital.  She has to spend the night, so I'm pretty worried about her.  My stepdad is annoyed at me and my boyfriend also got his cast off today but I won't be able to see him for another two days as he's busy tomorrow, which I don't want to get too into so I'll shut up.  So altogether I've had a really bad day, but whatever, trying to keep my chin up.

I'm Not Your Ghost Anymore

This isn't much of a proper post really, just some random photos of the rain today.  I've not done any proper photography in a while and although this isn't amazing it's a start. I've been playing around with the bottom photo, trying to figure out what I could do to make it more interesting but in the end left it as it first was.  I hope that college will spark up my love for photography again so you will see a lot more posts like this (but hopefully better).  Unfortunately, the weather this summer has been so disappointing, and I haven't done the things I hoped I could, but I'm hoping that it's sunny for Reading Festival and that makes up for the wasted days where I'm sat in bed listening to monsoon-style rain.

Haul/Review

So a while ago (about 2/3 months or so) I ordered a load of clothes from Wholesale-dress.net.  I chose the cheapest, slowest shipping, so I'm not surprised that it took so long, as it did come from China.  I do already own some items from them, as they sent me some stuff a few months back so I knew that the quality isn't the best, but this lot really took the biscuit.  I'll admit that it's excellent value for money, but the quality of some of the items really is pretty bad.  This isn't necessarily a post slagging everything off, but I prefer being honest about items rather than advertise all the time.

Item 1 - French style lace blouse

This is probably the item I am least satisfied with.  In the picture on the website, it looks like a really great item, with it being pretty long, with a nice fit and full length sleeves.  When I tried it on, I was very disappointed.  It's really short, the sleeves are only 3/4 length and it's basically transparent.  The model must be extremely tiny, as I haven't got a particularly large frame.  It's more of a children's size than women's.

Item 2 - Half sleeve leopard blazer/blouse
From the listing, you can tell that the arms are supposed to be 3/4 length which I don't mind, but the listing also shows this item with a collar.  I'm not too disappointed with this item, I'll probably wear it, but the product photos and descriptions are not detailed enough.  This item is also quite a small size.

Item 3: Black bodycon cocktail dress
This item isn't the best of quality but it's still wearable.  It fits me well and I've already worn it out once.  the chest sectioning isn't done well, but it's  not noticeable when worn.

Item 4 - Layered lace pantskirt (apricot)
I actually bought this item after seeing it featured on the blog Greer & Rose.  She made the item look really good, but I don't have a clue as to how to wear it.  The item is relatively good quality, but there are so many stray cotton strands all over them.  Of course it's simple to just cut them all off, but it's not good unpackaging an item to see all that. I'll probably end up selling this as it's taken so long to arrive that my taste has changed.

Item 5 - Crochet Vest
This item is pretty good quality actually.  The detailing is good and it's a nice fit.  It's just a shame that in the time it took to arrive I bought another one almost identical!

Item 6 - Faux fox tail
This is definitely my favourite item of the lot, as it's so soft and really good quality, feeling just like a real fox tail.  I've already worn it out and got a few compliments, although compared to other items on wholesale-dress.net it is one of the more expensive items.

Item 7 - Pearl/gold layered necklace
This item is average quality, and again, because it took so long to arrive my tastes have changed.  I bought it because it is almost identical to the Topshop one stocked not so long ago.  When I opened it, one of the charms had already fallen off, but this isn't a problem as I had all the tools I needed to fix it with.

Sorry to have rambled a lot, and for the messy post, but a few people asked me for reviews so here it is!  To sum it up, I wouldn't say that I'm disappointed with all of the stuff I bought, as there are some good things among it, so I would recommend it to others, purely because of the amazing prices!

Marble Nails Tutorial

Heya! So a little while ago I posted about my nude nails, with a marbled ring finger on each hand.  This is the post where I'll show you how to do it for yourself!  Now may I remind you, I'm no expert at this, only having done it twice so mine didn't turn out perfect, it's just really guidelines so you know how to do it!

YOU WILL NEED:
- glass of filtered water  (bottled water) filled nearly to the top.
- Orange stick/toothpick (I used a golf tee!)
- Top coat
- Sellotape
- Kitchen roll
- Nail varnishes you want to marble (at least two)

STEP ONE: Cover the skin surrounding your nails in sellotape, so you don't get nail varnish all over your fingers.

STEP TWO: Drip your nail varnish onto the top the water.  They should spread out quite quickly when they hit the surface.  Alternate dripping between the colours, building up a bullseye, as shown below.  (Doesn't the third picture look like a crazy guinea pig??) Make sure you do this quickly, so that the nail varnish doesn't dry, in which case the nail varnish will not swirl.

STEP THREE: Use your orange stick (golf tee in my situation) to marble the nail varnish.  To do this, draw simple lines very lightly across the surface.  If the nail varnish is not dry, it will obey.  In this situation, just take off the existing layer and try again.

STEP FOUR: Dunk your nail(s) in to the water, making sure your nails hit the surface flat.  Make them go quite deep under the surface so that none of the excess nail varnish sticks too.

STEP FIVE:  Let the nails set for a bit, then gently peel off the sellotape, using an ear bud and nail varnish remover to get rid of any varnish on the skin.  Lastly, paint on a layer of top coat and voila! Marbled nails!
Hope you liked my feeble attempt at a tutorial, thanks for reading!
