Due to the loud, rainbowy qualities of these two items they're not something I'd think to put together, but after seeing them together on my 'floordrobe' I discovered a dream combination! (See, floordrobes do have some benefits..).  Despite not loving cannabis print clothing I really love this crop top from OASAP, partly because it looks more like a tropical palm print.  I like the fit of it and the material is lovely and soft.  Onto the shorts; I don't even know where to start with them to be honest!  They're handmade and from Jersey Girl Vintage, who have a great range and do custom designs too.  I think I have found my dream shorts.  High waisted, rainbow, distressing, all over studs...they are totally faultless and I'll definitely be rocking them at Reading Festival next month!

Drop Dead Summer Line 2013 Press Party

              

  

I was kindly invited to the Drop Dead summer line launch to see the new designs and to summarise - it was awesome.  On entry there was Desperados beer and rad music DJ'd by none other than Lags from Gallows/Moones, but of course the most important thing was the clothes!  I don't know if you may be able to tell by the amount of photos I took, but I kind of love the new collection.  The logo redesign is featured a lot, as well as bold prints, tie dye and a wider range of clothing styles and fabrics, with close attention to detail.  What I like about the ladies clothing is that it's now aimed at a wider range of tastes - with minimal prints, cutesy peter pan collars and flowy blouses if you're less into the 'alternative' style.  I brought along my boyfriend, Alex, who is also a fan of Drop Dead and let me put it this way - he thoroughly enjoyed the free alcohol!  This led to a hasty scoffing of one and a half burritos brought in from Chipotle, which were so yummy (although a little too spicy for my feeble tastebuds!).  There were a load of cool guests invited including bands like Don Broco, Lower Than Atlantis, MK1 and The Midnight Beast, as well as other public figures, PR people and of course, the bloggers!  I got to meet Zoe again who also brought along her boyfriend, whom Alex promptly made friends with and I had a really great night in the end.  Me and Zoe actually got to leave with an amazing goodie bag which contained stickers, temporary tattoos and a cookie, and an item from the new collection of our choice which made us two of the first few people to get items from the line!  I featured my dungarees in an outfit post you can see here and Zoe featured her jumper in an outfit post here.  I'd like to say a huge thank you to the Drop Dead team for inviting me along to the event and if you guys want to visit the website, just click here!

This is definitely one of the most flattering dresses I've worn in a while - I think the cut is so lovely and gives the illusion of a smaller waist where the pattern on the fabric slants..if you get what I mean.  What makes it even more amazing is that it was totally handmade by the lovely Anastasia, and she is mega talented because there is not one flaw in the design - I could never make a dress of this quality even if I tried!  I love the sheer back, and I find it's better for my body shape, as it's a well known fact that if you're 'breastically challenged' you can make up for it by showing off your back!  Moving on - I think these accessories were literally made for this dress - the dull nude shoes go perfectly with the hints of brown in the dress, and the Marc b bag matches almost spot on with the blue, it's also a lovely summer colour and can be used as a clutch or a purse!  For the purpose of these photos I actually stuffed it with some fluffy socks - little 'behind the scenes' fact for you there haha.  Hope you like the outfit!

REVIEW // Northern Sky Nails

Custom Nail Varnish // Northern Sky Nails

You may have caught a glimpse of this nail varnish in a lot of my recent outfit posts but I haven't ever included a proper shot of my nails.  I get acrylic nails and when I had this colour on my nails they were in dire need of care so apologies for the scruffy state!  You may also notice the galaxy accent nails - these were painted at the Oh My Love event I went to not long ago by the lovely ladies at the Nail Girls stand, how I wish I could do it myself!

Anyway, onto the nail varnish!  I was kindly gifted this colour as well as another (which I'll feature in due time) and both shades are so lovely!  Each and every one is hand mixed by Karen and you can buy them in her shop, Northern Sky Nails.  This particular nail varnish was custom made for me but you can buy a similar shade here, or alternatively contact her for your own personal nail colour.

The nail polish is (clearly) a lovely bubblegum pink, chock full of pink, purple and turquoise glitter.  Because the formula is not professionally mixed, it does separate, with the glitter going to the bottom but to me this is not a problem; just a quick shake brings it to normal consistency.  I found the formula applied very smoothly, and only needed two coats for an opaque finish.  I cannot, however, comment on the lasting power of the polish, because I get acrylic nails therefore never experience chipping.  The one itty bitty thing that let me down, however, is that the glitter looked more like speckles rather than sparkly glitter, although this could just be down to my shoddy application.  Otherwise I am extremely impressed with the formula, especially as it's handmade and will definitely be wearing it a lot this summer.  If you would like to have a look at the Northern Sky Nails online shop click here - polishes start at £6.50 and as I said before, custom nail varnishes are more than welcome!
